Are you licensed and insured?
Yes to both. Our Connecticut Home Improvement Contractor Registration number
is 616208, and our Rhode Island Contractors' Registration number is 29295.
How long have you been in business?
Closets etc. has been in business since 1987 under various names
including Closets by Design, Spatial Concepts and Closets Inc. We are independently owned and operated. We
moved our factory and corporate office from Cheshire, CT to Meriden,
CT in October 2005.
What is the average cost of a project?
Since each project is different and all of our designs are customized, it would not be proper to put a
specific dollar amount on a job without developing a full layout and
design. In general, the least expensive projects are done in
ventilated wire shelving. A significant step-up in functionality and appearance is a design in melamine. It carries a higher cost, but usually offers a large increase in storage space. There are several grades of melamine, ranging from solid color to rich woodgrains that match such woods as mahogany or cherry. Finally, we can design storage solutions in wood veneer and solid wood. Prices for wood may range up to three times the cost of a top melamine finish.
We will gladly come to your home and quote you a real price rather than "winging it" over the phone or pricing a make-believe standard design that may not come close to meeting your individual requirements. We have, after all, been closet specialists for over twenty years. There never is an obligation on the customer's part and our free consultation is only a phone call away.
What is my choice of materials?
The choice of materials depends on the application. Melamine is by far the material preferred by our customers. It is available in a wide variety of solid colors or rich woodgrain patterns. The material is very durable, yet lighter in weight than wood, and it is easily maintained. It is also environmentally sound in that it contains up to 75 per cent recycled wood materials. We offer a large choice of options, such as different door and drawer styles and matching accessories. A second choice is wood veneer. Though more costly, it may in be suitable for an office, an entertainment center, or to match other design features in the house. Solid wood design is another option, with virtually limitless variations, but at a far higher cost. Conversely, ventilated wire is the most economical choice for some applications. However, wire may sacrifice adjustability and flexibility. Closets etc. is unique in that it has the experience to provide any solution or combination of materials that suit the customer's space and decor.
How long does an installation take?
The majority of installations take no more than a day. Even
doing a complete house rarely extends beyond two days. The
homeowner is responsible for cleaning out any belongings, removing
any existing shelving, patching holes or painting walls. Closets
etc. will remove and dispose of existing shelving and patch holes
for a small fee.
Do you offer a warranty?
We will warrant each part to be free from manufacturing defects for
as long as you own your home.
